About Vectorworks

Computer-aided design (CAD) programs have come a long way from where

they first started in the 1970s. Companies began switching to CAD programs instead

of manual drafting, which was slower and more costly. With the precision and speed

at which designers could use CAD programs, it became obvious that electronic

drafting was there to stay. Vectorworks is Casoftware with an easy-to-use interface

that is ideal for general 2D drafting and 3D modeling. Diehl Graphsoft, Inc. created

the Vectorworks family in the 1980s, which includes Designer, Architect, Spotlights,

Landmark, Fundamentals, and Renderworks. Later, in 2000, The Nemetschek Group

acquired the Vectorworks family and it became their largest U.S. subsidiary.

More than half a million designers trust and use Vectorworks programs

ranging in industries from architects to entertainment designers. Over the years,

Vectorworks has become internationally known as a leader in both CAD and

Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. The software was one of the first

to introduce and incorporate BIM capabilities. BIM is the process of designing a

building collaboratively using one coherent system of computer models rather than

as separate sets of drawings.

Vectorworks Family

Vectorworks Designer- Helps designers who specialize in architecture,

landscape, or entertainment designers draft, model, and present in a single,

instinctive program. With built in BIM capabilities, designers can easily analyze

costs and materials, increase energy efficiency, or just create designs. Complete with

3D modeling ability, Designer allows the creation of any shape and a method to

discover geometry in 3 dimensions.

Vectorworks Architect- Offering all the tools necessary to design the next

legendary architecture icon. Architect allows for collaboration on the same file so

great ideas can be added and removed with multiple contributors. Designing in 2D

or 3D permits individuals to tackle complex ideas and solve difficult situations.

Complete with the same BIM capabilities, Architect provides the tools to create

unlimited possibilities.

Vectorworks Landmark- Transitioning from hand-drawn designs to a CAD

has never been more seamless than with Landmark. Filled with built-in objects and

great databases that allow creative designing in 2D and 3D models, as well as

pre/post development site conditions, and creation of construction documents.

Landmark is a collection of all the tools that could be necessary to reinvent your

environment.

Vectorworks Spotlight- The program built for entertainment designers,

Spotlight helps create memorable experiences. With 2D drafting and 3D modeling,

Spotlight aides in the creation of realistic rendering of enhanced stage creation,

lighting devices, and graphical event plans. When it comes to putting on a show,

Spotlight is the driving force behind the bright lights.

Vectorworks Fundamentals- The final member of the Vectorworks family,

Fundamental is the basic CAD software package that still offers top-notch 2D and 3D

capabilities. The modeling and documentation platform is very intuitive and easy-

to-use allowing designers freedom with their work.
