Choosing The Right Printer For You

With the age of technology running as rampant as it is, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle with all the gear that is out there. Luckily for you, the consumer, having all these options available to you is actually a good thing. It tells you that there is going to be something out there for just about everyone. Let's say you are choosing a printer, but are not sure what printer to get. Most people will just Google “printers” and immediately go into shock by the amount of results that pop up. There are steps you can take to narrow down your search quite a bit. Taking these steps might even make things a little less painful on your wallet.

There are mainly two different styles of printers out there. You have laser printers, and your standard, run-of-the-mill ink jet printer. How to choose a printer that works for you? There are advantages to both, but not necessarily for everybody. If you are running a business out of your home, or for some reason need to print a lot of documents, laser printers are the direction you will more than likely be wanting to go. There are laser printers that can printer papers as fast as 15 pages per minute. The advantage of laser is also in the toner, which is it's printing medium as opposed to ink. A toner cartridge might cost slightly more, but one cartridge can last you up to over 4000 pages. If black and white is an issue for you, do worry. There are color laser printers available for a fraction of the cost more.

However, if you are one who prints a lot of photo quality pictures, there is no substitute for an ink jet printer. The colors and images these printers produce are absolutely stunning. Gone are the days of dropping off a roll of film to get developed, and waiting for them to finish it. Ink jet cartridges are slightly less expensive, depending on the brand and size, but you will more than likely go through it pretty quickly. It truly depends on the amount of items printed, and the quality of the items printed. You will have to judge for yourself whether this is a buy for you.

The last bit of choosing you will have to do, comes in the form of the size. Printers literally come in all shapes and sizes. Do you want a small simple printer, or a large format industrial style printer? At the end of the day, the choices might still seem endless. But at least now you have some criteria to help you sort through the mess.
